Day Eleven - Our Spiritual Weapon
Today's Reflection
by Alison Simpson
A little over one hundred years ago, Our Lady of Fatima told three little children to “say the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world. And after each decade say the following prayer: ‘O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of Thy mercy.’”
The Rosary is our spiritual weapon against the evil in this world. Sadly, it may seem repetitive or tedious at times. However, this should not hold us back from learning to use it as our spiritual weapon. It’s in those moments of dread or boredom that we can learn to create a good habit. Instead of picking up our phones when we first wake up, we can reach for our Rosaries instead. Those beads can become a great comfort to us. In fact, we should be carrying a Rosary at all times. When a soldier goes into battle, he carries a weapon for protection. We must do the same in our daily lives by carrying our spiritual weapon: the Rosary.
St. Padre Pio once said, “The Rosary is the ‘weapon’ for these times.” Looking at the state that our world is in with all its corrupt leaders and movements makes it seem almost impossible to hope for good in the world. At the end of the day, we must remember that good always conquers. God will use our prayers for good. Hold onto that hope and let it carry you through. Cling to the Rosary. It’s your weapon in this long spiritual battle.
Since the Rosary is such a powerful prayer against the evils of this world, we should use it to pray specifically for an end to abortion, euthanasia, abuse of power, and the protection of all life from the womb to the tomb. What better way to do that than by saying a Pro-Life Rosary! The Priests for Life have specific Pro-Life reflections and prayers to say along with each mystery of the Rosary. For more information on how to pray this and on the specific prayers used for each mystery, click here: https://www.priestsforlife.org/prayers/Rosary.aspx
Please join me in saying and carrying our spiritual weapon against the enemy. Never forget that God wins. We will be rewarded for the time we spend in prayer, even if we won’t be able to see our prayers come to full fruition in this life. Think of all the graces and spiritual protection we can gain! When we invoke the Blessed Mother’s name, we make the enemy quake in fear. So, cling tight to those beads and pray with all your heart.
Prayer for Times of Trouble
Lord, in every need let me come to You with humble trust saying,
“Jesus, help me.”
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,
Jesus, help me.
In hours of loneliness, weariness, and trials,
Jesus, help me.
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles, and sorrows,
Jesus, help me.
When others fail me, and Your grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me.
When I throw myself on Your tender love as a father and savior,
Jesus, help me.
When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me.
When I feel impatient and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me.
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work, and I am lonely,
Jesus, help me.
Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls, and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.
Amen.
